SalatNow is committed to protecting your personal privacy. We do not track your physical movements, we do not sell personal profiles to data brokers, and your GPS coordinates are processed client-side only within your browser.
1 Overview & Organization
This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which SalatNow ("we", "us", or "our"), operated under the Islamic Digital Initiative by founder H M Jubair Alam, handles data when you access or use the website located at salat-now.truxio.bond and associated services.
2 Geolocation & Location Data (Browser Client-Side Only)
To compute localized Islamic prayer schedules (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha) and provide the Great-Circle azimuth to the Holy Kaaba in Makkah, SalatNow requires geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude).
Strict Client-Side Processing
- When you click "Detect GPS", your browser requests permission via the standard W3C Geolocation API.
- Your exact latitude and longitude are calculated and processed entirely in volatile browser memory on your physical device.
- SalatNow runs zero backend tracking servers. We never transmit, log, store, sell, or aggregate your GPS coordinates to any database.
- If you prefer not to share GPS coordinates, you may manually search and select any city worldwide using our search tool, which requires no device location permissions.
3 Browser Local Storage (LocalStorage)
SalatNow does not use invasive cross-site tracking cookies. We utilize standard HTML5 localStorage solely to remember your user interface preferences between browsing sessions. Specifically:
salatnow_theme: Remembers your dark or light theme preference.salatnow_state: Stores your chosen calculation convention (e.g. MWL, ISNA, Umm al-Qura), Asr juristic school (Standard vs Hanafi), 12/24 hour display format, audio chime toggles, and last searched city name to prevent re-querying every visit.
These keys are stored exclusively on your hard drive / device storage. You can delete or clear them at any time by clearing your browser cache and cookies.
4 Third-Party Advertising & Cookie Disclosures (HalalSpark & Google AdSense)
To maintain server bandwidth, domain operations, and ensure SalatNow remains freely accessible to the global Ummah without subscription fees, we may display ethical advertisements via compliant ad networks, including HalalSpark and Google AdSense.
A. Google AdSense & Third-Party Vendors
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to SalatNow or other websites across the Internet:
- Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out portal.
B. HalalSpark Ethical Advertising Standards
SalatNow adheres to strict halal and ethical digital advertising standards. In collaboration with ethical Islamic advertising platforms such as HalalSpark, we explicitly prohibit advertisements pertaining to:
- Interest-based conventional banking (Riba) and predatory lending.
- Gambling, sports betting, casinos, and speculative lotteries (Maysir).
- Alcoholic beverages, intoxicants, and illicit substances.
- Adult content, indecency, and inappropriate imagery.
- Deceptive scams, malware distribution, or crypto-pyramid schemes.
5 External APIs & CDN Services
To deliver timetables, iconography, and fonts, SalatNow communicates with the following external trusted services:
- Aladhan REST API: Used to fetch verified prayer schedules. Queries send geographic coordinates or city names to generate astronomical timetables.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: Used when a user enters a city search keyword to retrieve standard latitude/longitude coordinates.
- Content Delivery Networks (CDNs): Scripts and assets are loaded via Cloudflare, Tailwind CDN, and Google Fonts. These CDNs may process your IP address for traffic routing and DDoS prevention.
6 User Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), users possess the right to:
- Access, rectify, or erase any personal information held about them. Because SalatNow does not maintain server-side user accounts, no profile data is retained.
- Opt-out of non-essential cookies and personalized advertising via browser controls and official opt-out portals.
- Lodge inquiries or concerns with supervisory authorities or directly with our data controller.
7 Children's Privacy Protection (COPPA)
SalatNow is a general-audience educational and religious utility suitable for Muslims of all ages. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.
